On March 12, we will go to Brussels with the ABVV and the other unions for a national demonstration against the government's social breakdown policy.
Together we will once again make our voices heard loud and clear, defending:
- Fair pensions
- Purchasing power and workable work
- Respect for employees and job seekers
- Honest contributions from the broadest shoulders
Practical
- Thursday March 12th, 2026 in Brussels
- Joining together from 10 am at Brussels North Station
- At the start of the demonstration, there will be a few speeches.
- Procession: at 11 a.m., a procession is formed, and then leaves for the Gare du Midi
- A strike notice was submitted for this day to give all Ghent University staff members the opportunity to participate in this national manifestation.
- Did you - as an ACOD member - participate in this action and did UGent withhold your salary for this day? Then send us your payslip on which this wage deduction has been made by e-mail to ACOD@UGent.be so that we can do the necessary for the payment of a strike compensation.
Train travel to the manifestation
You must register in advance for this. This is possible until March 10, 2026 at 10 am.
How do you register?
- Click on this link (Dutch only) and click on ‘Een plek reserveren’ (= making a reservation).
- Enter your name, national ID number (= "rijksregisternummer") and your e-mail address.
- Indicate whether you want a train ticket and from which station you will be departing to Brussels.
Please note, with regard to the form fields regarding the strike compensation: in order to receive the strike compensation as an ACOD member, you must e-mail us your pay slip for the month of March - from which the wages for the strike day were withheld by UGent - to ACOD@UGent.be
After registration you will receive an email with a document. Keep this safe. It contains a QR code that will be scanned by our employees at the stations or in Brussels to confirm your presence. You can have your QR code scanned, for example, by the ACOD trade union secretaries of East Flanders, or at the music cart of ABVV East Flanders.
Your train ticket is automatically added to your e-ID card. So be sure to bring your e-ID card with you on March 12.
You did not register?
Buy you own train ticket. As ACOD member, afterwards you can send us a scan of your train ticket, together with your national ID number and your bank account number, to ACOD@UGent.be
You did register, but are unable to join the manifestation after all?
Please inform bert.piessens@abvv.be by March 11th before 10 a.m. at the latest. This way we can cancel your train ticket and we don't buy unnecessary tickets.
